Woo hoo! As of Sunday, I'm officially halfway through my stash. It feels great, and I'm pretty motivated by the fact that it seems to be going pretty fast. I'm headed back to California soon for work with a free day in San Francisco. You can bet I'll find a way to reward myself with a purchase (or four) from Kinokuniya book store. I can't wait. Any other places I should be sure to visit? I was so happy with my last trip that I just want to duplicate everything. For some reason, last time, Britex Fabrics and I didn't hit it off. I'm hoping to give it another chance.
(Forgive the pink pants. Addie wanted to keep them on, and I wanted to save the battle for something more important - like asking her to move her hair away from her face.)
This was the cover dress from this book:
I really liked the contrast colors for the collar and cuffs in the photo. I racked my brain for a while to figure out which fabrics I could use from my stash that would give me a satisfactory combination. I was quite pleased when I realized that this Anna Maria Horner voile that I'd been hoarding for some time blended pretty well with my leftover shot cotton from this shirt.
I'm not totally thrilled with the dress. I messed up on the collar somewhere along the way. It's not really supposed to overlap. Usually I have the opposite problem where it's supposed to meet in the middle and doesn't quite reach.
Then I'm not sure that voile was the best choice or if I should have used heavier interfacing or if I just messed up even more, but there's a curve to the overlapping bodice pieces that flops down. See it above the top right button in the photo above?
(Blowing me a kiss.)
I know I'm being picky. I'm sure no one will notice from afar.
(Eating a jelly bean.)
It's very lightweight, so I think Addie will wear it a lot in the summer.
Oops - gotta go do dance pick up. How's your stash-busting going?
