Hello Again. If I take time to address not blogging for the last two years, I'll never blog again, so I'm just going to dive right in. Apologies for the mess. I stopped paying for Typepad, so I lost all my customizations. It's hideous, but that's a project for another day.
I've been inspired by all the instagram posts I've been seeing for #2018MakeNine, so I wanted to jump on that bandwagon.
I like to think I have all the time in the world, so I decided to do one for knitting and another for sewing. (What's the equivalent of "My eyes were bigger than my stomach" for crafting?)
Today, let's talk about knitting. And, hopefully tomorrow (and not 3 years from now), sewing.
If only, my photos were as lovely as these stolen from Ravelry.
1. Dark & Stormy. This is well underway, and I'm loving it. I can barely tear myself away to do anything else. I'm using Malabrigo Worsted in the color Pigeon. I'm a little worried it will pill too much, but so far it feels wonderful.
2. White Pine. I've had this on my list for a while. I love the sweatshirt-like style. I've already purchased more Malabrigo Worsted in the color Valentina which is a gorgeous pale pink. Hopefully, that doesn't prove to be too pilly because I'm doing it!
3. Telja. I ran out and purchased the yarn for this as soon as I saw it. I still love it, but for some reason, stopped to knit up an Arboreal. Sleeves are done and a few inches of the body. I love the new Vintersol as well and I would love the Branches and Buds Pullover in gray with some pops of red for next December. Is there a limit to the number of yoked sweaters you can have? I've been wearing my Arboreal every day since I finished it. It's warm and comfortable. One of my goals is to have more than one every day winter sweater like this.
4. Mittens. I'm hooked on making mittens, and I really want to make a pair with a Latvian Braid. I finished this pair just before the new year. How cool is this Octopus pattern? I would be devastated if I lost one, but I am always leaving my mittens somewhere, so it would be good to have another pair.
5. Oban Hat. I've made two of these Beeswax hats, and I love them (wearing one now), but you can never have enough hats. I have some gorgeous Rowan Cashmere to make this one more.
6. Ingeborg Slippers. I came across this pattern via a kit available from Upton yarns. I just purchased it. All in the name of meeting my goals, right? My house, built in 1860, is always cold, so I always wear wool socks and wool slippers, so these will be a good step up from the wool socks.
7. Merrifield Sweater. I started this last summer and only have a few inches of a sleeve and the neck left. There's no reason not to finish! I made it out of off-white Linen Kestrel from Quince. I think it will look nice over a chambray shirt (see forthcoming #2108SewingMakeNine).
8. Watson Cardigan. I seem to always be in search of a navy-colored sweater in the summer. I love the lace and the back-pleat on this one. If I use wool yarn, I can wear it in summer and winter.
9. Grandpa Cardigan. After seeing this post, I was really inspired to knit a classic off-white fisherman sweater. I know I would wear it all the time.
Oh, and one more. I made a Honey Cowl for myself in Malabrigo Polar Morn (gorgeous color), but it's a little smaller than I would like, and my 19-year-old daughter expressed an interest in it. It's been gifted to her but I have the yarn to make one more for myself. It will come in handy once the roads clear a bit for biking to work.
